Functional Communication Training

Functional Communication Training

Functional Communication Training (FCT) helps children communicate their needs in ways that can replace challenging behavior. Using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, FCT teaches a communication response that serves the same purpose as the behavior, such as asking for help, a break, attention, or a preferred item. Communication may include speech, signs, pictures, or a communication device, depending on the child's needs.
